Welcome to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s small game harvest survey page. Each year, Parks and Wildlife surveys hunters to establish estimates of harvest and hunter participation for a variety of wildlife, including resident game birds, furbearers, light geese, and other small game species including cottontail rabbits. The data obtained from these surveys is used to monitor populations of small game, to assist with the season establishment process, and to study trends in hunter participation. Many of these surveys have been in existence for more than 50 years. Hunters are randomly selected to participate in a survey. Hunters that were not selected to be contacted by the survey cannot opt into a survey.
